"When one teaches, two learns." -- Robert Heinlein
A little over a month later, and I'm finally getting around to posting an entry about our Christmas performance from last month.
I can't believe we spent 2 months preparing for our Christmas concert, and how fast the time came and passed by. I am SO proud of my students' performance -to say the very least. Not only did they gracefully perform, leaving EVERYONE in awe as the final performance, but their Dear Santa speech was impeccable!
Reflecting back on these past 6 months I've taught them reminds me how much I love teaching & how rewarding it is to see the tremendous growth my students have made thus far. I remember when I first taught them back in August, most of them could barely speak English in full sentences and were so shy. Now, they're all so comfortable with one another, having full blown conversations in English, writing paragraphs, and reading on a 2nd grade level.
It's mind-blowing to see how much progress children can make in so little time, especially when they're given support and time to practice. They're like little sponges, and when they're given the opportunity, their capacity and ability to learn and understand things are endless.
My students never cease to amaze me, and inspire me to try and soak up as much as I can, and learn as much as I can.
I always tell myself - if my kindergarten students can do this, so can I.
P.S -- I'll have to edit this post once I get my hands on their Christmas performance footage.
