Chuseok (Korean: 추석): "originally known as hangawi (한가위 from archaic Korean for "the great middle (of autumn)"(한가위), is a major harvest festival and a three-day holiday in Korea celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar on the full moon."

Chuseok is a one of South Korea's major holidays and I love how everyone becomes so festive and the children have the opportunity to wear their traditional hanboks and share their culture.
I can't believe a year has already gone by since my first Chuseok in South Korea. Time flies when you love what you do and you're having fun!
This year, our school spent the entire day celebrating Chuseok with our kindergarten students by making songpyeon, playing traditional games, and instruments.

Group photo fails
Group photos are always EPIC fails, especially when you're trying to take ones with little ones. However, the result of these epic failed group photos are quite hysterical in my opinion.
making SongPyeon for chuseok
Songpyeon is a type of tteok which is a traditional Korean food made from glutinous rice/rice cake. It's traditionally made and eaten during Chuseok to celebrate the autumn harvest festival.
One of our activities was to make Songpyeon. Each student got to choose their filling to go inside their songpyeon (raisins or honey...which is my favorite!). I of course made a few as well, and they were quite delicious! =)

traditional chuseok games and activities
The Chuseok celebration at school was a fun and exciting day for the students. I'd say if both the students and teachers were happy and exhausted by the end of the day...then it was definitely a success! =)
